Credentials:
I am a licensed clinical social worker with a private
practice here in Atlanta. I have a Masters in Social Work from the
University of Georgia, and a Clinical License to practice Psychotherapy
in the state of Georgia. I began my career as a psychotherapist
in 1999 at the age of 43, after a 20 year career in advertising
and marketing. But actually, I learned how to be a good therapist
by being in my own therapy, which I started in 1988. I have been
taught and therapized by some of the most gifted individuals, and
I'm still committed to learning from them, and passing along the
best psychotherapy that I can to my clients.
I combine a rich mixture of psychotherapy models.
Hold on!
I am affiliated with STAR,
an intensive therapy retreat based in California and Arizona, and
have served on their Board of Directors. I am a member of the American
Academy of Psychotherapists, and have served on their Southern Region
conference planning committee, and am a member of the National Association
of Social Workers.
Heart credentials:
When I started my journey into
psychotherapy over 20 years ago, I was wanting so much more in my
life. I realized that if I wanted a happy life, I'd better figure
out what my part in it was.
Now I look back and see the incredible transformation that occurred
for me. Therapy was incredibly supportive and informative. I learned
so much and felt so accepted that just going to therapy felt like
a relief from the very beginning.
And now, the people who come to
me want the same things. They want to know why they are stuck in
some area of their lives and unable to find the satisfaction and
joy they desire. Why their relationships have so much pain, anger
and fighting. Or they're worried about money or why they're stuck
in their careers, or unable to get motivated, get "over it,"
or get healthy.
You DO NOT have to stay stuck. You CAN learn new ways of
seeing yourself and your life. Depression, overwhelm-ment, fear,
grief...all of these feelings are meant to be felt and let go. Let's
get to work!
